From stained floors and dusty carpets to streaky windows and bad smells we’ve got your covered. Plus, ideas for homemade cleaning solutions from a few store cupboard staples.
Windows
Did you know the trick to streak free windows is to in fact clean them on a cloudy and dry day? Who knew! Otherwise, the sun dries them too quickly leaving hard to remove streaks, making all your efforts redundant.
For a quick home window washing solution mix equal parts of warm water and white vinegar for sparkling, crystal clear windows.
Alternatively try cordless window cleaners like the Kleeneze Window Vacuum to get to all those hard-to-reach areas and corners. The great news is these vaccums can be multi-functional and not only will they leave your windows crystal clear, but they can do they same for your tiles and mirrored surfaces.
Tiled Surfaces & Floors
Mix half a cup of baking soda in a bucket of warm water and mix well for a homemade cleaner.
Apply the liquid to tiled floors using a string mop and tiled surfaces using a sponge. Alternatively use a steam cleaner or steam mop.
Heat treatment has been shown to be effective in blitzing away bacteria and requires nothing more than water from your tap. A steam cleaner can also double up for use on a variety of surfaces, like this Beldray 12-in-1 Steam Mop which can be used on hard floors, carpets, upholstery, garments, windows, bathroom tiles and more for a beautifully clean home.
Steam Clean the Microwave
Microwaves naturally attract dirt from spillages which can be difficult to clean. Why not try cleaning and deodorizing your microwave the easy and natural way?
Simply add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar or lemon juice to a microwave safe bowl, mix and heat on full power for about 5 mins. Then just wipe and hey presto a clean microwave. No scrubbing required!
Watermarks on Stainless Steel Surfaces
Pesky water stains on your taps or sink?
Simply halve a lemon and use it scrub the taps or sinks surfaces to get rid of watermarks. For stubborn stains, squeeze some lemon juice directly on the build-up and leave the magic to take place for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes or so, simply rinse and wipe!
The added bonus is the citrusy lemon scent will leave your home smelling fresh and gorgeous. Easy peasy lemon sqeezy!
Carpets
Vacuuming is a must for any home to get rid of unwanted dust, dirt and pet hairs. Many vaccums and hoovers come with additional brushes and accessories to use on upholstery so don’t be afraid to vacuum your sofa!
Did you know you can also vacuum hard floors and ceilings? Yes ceilings! Invest in a cordless lightweight vacuum like this Beldray Cordless Vac Lite which converts into a handheld unit for ceilings and hard to reach areas! Bye-bye cobwebs and dust bunnies!
Make Your Home Smell Amazing
Investing in a scented candle or two is always a good idea but why not take a leaf out of Mrs Hinch’s book and add a few drops of Zoflora disinfectant to a bowl or vase of hot water and leave it in any room. Top tip, choose your favourite Zoflora scent, and do this before you go to bed, and voila your home will be smelling great by the time you wake up.
Or perhaps try a cup (oven safe cup, of course) of vanilla extract in the oven and heat for about an hour to make your home smell fresh, sweet and just like a bakery!
Remember! To always check the cleaning products (or homemade solutions) you wish to use are right for the desired surface!
