New Beauty Favs & Tips For Winte

Winter is just around the corner, and as the temperature drops, it’s time to show your skin some extra TLC. Just like our homes and wardrobes, we make room for cosy jumpers, warmer bedding, hot chocolate and nights in-front of the telly; we need to make room for a new winter skincare routine. With the seasonal fluctuations, indoor heating and lower air humidity our skin dries out takes a battering in the colder months, so now is the time to start preparing your skin and to shake things up. We’re not suggesting you throw away every skincare item in your bathroom cabinet, but by making a few tweaks, you can really help to bolster your skin’s natural protection, leaving your complexion happy and healthy.

Step 1: Change your cleanser

The harsh cold air and lower humidity can really dry out your skin, you should switch to a gentler soap free, non-lathering cleanser as they have more natural pH and are less likely to dry out your skin further as the temperature drops. If your skin feels tight after cleansing, try an oil-based cleanser instead.

Step 2: Exfoliate more often

Skin can become dull during the colder months, so winter is the perfect time to pay closer attention to your exfoliating routine. Try an oil-based scrub to hydrate your skin whilst exfoliating. Even if your skin seems drier and flakier in the colder months, be sure not to buff too harshly or everyday as this can damage your skin. Twice a week should be sufficient to promote softer, smoother looking skin.

Step 3: Switch up your moisturiser

Moisturing is the king of the winter skincare, especially if you suffer from dry skin or dry patches throughout the year. Skin tends to produce fewer oils in the colder months, so switching to a thicker moisturiser can really help boost hydration and keep those oils locked in. If you prefer to use a lighter moisturiser during the day, then simply use a heavier one at night before you go to bed. Be sure your moisturiser includes an SPF, as your skin is still prone UV damage and collagen breakdown

in the winter. Adding a serum and a moisturing primer to your beauty routine will help too.
